Moonlet Mobile App Sunset

Moonlet is sun-setting its mobile wallet as we pivot toward institutional-grade infrastructure and services for high-net-worth individuals (HNWI) and enterprise-scale custodians. Below is everything you need to know.

1. Network Support During the Transition

NetworkStatus in Moonlet Mobile App
Zilliqa 2.0Not supported at launch
Zilliqa LegacyRemains operational (read-only, staking & transfers)
SolanaFully supported until decommission
Ethereum (EVM)Fully supported until decommission
NearFully supported until decommission

2. Decommission Timeline

  • Now → Q4 2025 – App continues to work for Zilliqa Legacy, Solana, Ethereum, and Near.

  • End of 2025 – Moonlet Mobile App will be removed from app stores; backend services enter read-only mode.

  • Early 2026 – Final shutdown; no further updates or support.

3. Why We’re Sunsetting the App

  1. Competitive landscape – The wallet market is crowded with specialist mobile solutions.

  2. Focus shift – Moonlet’s roadmap centers on institutional-grade dashboards, high-net-worth individuals (HNWI), enterprise-scale custodians, API suites, and validator infrastructure.

  3. Security & maintenance – Concentrating on server-grade security and compliance (SOC 2 Type II, ISO 27001).

  4. AI-Driven Operations – Our engineering pipeline now leverages AI for code generation, automated audits, log analysis, and predictive node monitoring—boosting efficiency, security, and product quality across our institutional platform.

4. Action Required for Mobile-App Users

  1. Back up your secret phrase (mnemonic) offline.

  2. Migrate or re-import your wallet into a supported alternative (e.g., Ledger + Moonlet Dashboard, MetaMask, Phantom).

  3. For Zilliqa users, follow the appropriate migration guide to move from the legacy chain to Zilliqa 2.0.

🔒 Never share your secret phrase or private keys with anyone. Moonlet staff will never ask for them.

5. How the Secure Enclave Protects Your Keys

Moonlet Mobile is fully self-custodial:

  • iOS (Secure Enclave) – Your private key is encrypted by a hardware element separate from the main CPU. It can perform cryptographic signing but can’t export the raw key.

  • Android (Hardware-Backed Keystore / StrongBox) – Similar isolation; keys are generated and stored in a dedicated security module.

  • App-Level Encryption – Moonlet encrypts the mnemonic with your PIN/biometric before handing it to the enclave.

BUT: If you lose your device or uninstall the app without a backup, you lose your keys forever. Always write down or securely export the secret phrase.

6. FAQ

QuestionAnswer
Will I lose funds when the app shuts down? No. Your assets live on-chain—just import your secret phrase into another wallet.
Can I still claim Zilliqa Legacy rewards?Yes, until that chain sunsets. Afterward, migrate to Zilliqa 2.0.
Does this affect Ledger users? No—Ledger users can ignore this notice. Manage everything via stake.moonlet.io
Will Moonlet launch a new mobile app?It depends. Relaunching a next-generation mobile suite is on our roadmap as we scale, but we can’t commit to a timeline today. We’re monitoring market demand and will update the community through official channels if plans solidify.
